18 U.S.C. §2257 Compliance Statement

Last updated: May 21, 2026. Similar Cams is an editorial review and aggregation service for adult webcam platforms. We do not produce, originally host, or distribute primary visual depictions of actual sexually explicit conduct as defined by 18 U.S.C. §2257. The record-keeping requirements of 18 U.S.C. §2257, §2257A, and 28 C.F.R. Part 75 therefore do not apply to Similar Cams as the primary record custodian. The actual primary producers are the third-party providers ("Providers") whose feeds we aggregate; their custodian information is listed in section 4 below.

1. Nature of our content

Similar Cams publishes:

  • Text-based descriptions of Providers, features, pricing, and user-experience reviews;
  • Provider logos and trademarks (used under nominative fair use for editorial review);
  • Generic icons, decorative graphics, and abstract illustrations;
  • Live, low-resolution thumbnails and metadata aggregated from public Provider feeds in near-real time, displayed for navigation and identification only.

Live streams themselves are hosted, encoded, and served by the respective Providers from their own infrastructure. When you click "Open chat", "Watch", or any similar action, you are redirected to the Provider's own site, which is the actual point of broadcast. Similar Cams is, in effect, a directory and review layer over those Provider services.

2. Exempt status under 28 C.F.R. §75.1(c)

Similar Cams qualifies for §2257 exemption on two independent grounds:

  • 28 C.F.R. §75.1(c)(2)(iii) — to the extent any depiction is text-only or otherwise non-explicit on Similar Cams itself.
  • 28 C.F.R. §75.1(c) "mere distribution channel" — Similar Cams transmits, references, and hyperlinks to content originally produced and hosted by third-party Providers. Under 18 U.S.C. §2257(h)(2)(B) and 47 U.S.C. §230(c) we do not become the primary producer by performing those functions.

We retain internal documentation of this analysis and can provide it on request from authorised personnel.

3. Compliance of providers we reference

Each major Provider listed on Similar Cams operates its own §2257 compliance program with documented age verification of every broadcaster. We refer enforcement personnel and copyright owners directly to the Provider's compliance pages, typically published at standardised paths (e.g. /2257, /usc-2257, /2257-compliance) on the Provider's primary domain.

5. Reporting concerns

If you have concerns about a specific Provider's §2257 compliance, contact that Provider's custodian directly using the addresses above. If you believe Similar Cams has inadvertently published content that violates §2257 — for example, an aggregated thumbnail you believe was produced before the broadcaster turned 18 — contact us immediately at [email protected]. We will investigate within 24 hours and remove the relevant material pending verification.

6. RTA label

Similar Cams is also labeled with the Restricted To Adults (RTA) website label, ensuring that parental-control software can recognise and restrict access to the Site for users under 18. See rtalabel.org for details.
