Last updated: May 21, 2026. Similar Cams is an editorial review and aggregation site for adult webcam platforms. We collect the minimum data needed to run the site and explain everything below in plain language. This policy explains what we collect, why, our consent-gated product analytics, and your rights under the GDPR (EU/UK) and CCPA (California).
1. What we collect
Similar Cams does not require account registration. The data we do hold falls into three buckets:
- Anonymous visitor session โ when you accept the age-gate, we issue a server-side session identifier (random UUID) so we can remember preferences such as theme, language, and notification choices. The session is not linked to any personal identity. Your country is derived from your IP address at session creation time and stored alongside the session ID.
- Age-verification cookie โ a single browser cookie (
age_verified) recording that you confirmed being 18+ on this device. No other tracking purpose. - Server logs โ IP address, browser user-agent, referrer URL, and request timestamp, written by our infrastructure provider. Logs are retained for up to 30 days for abuse detection and then rotated out.
If you opt in to web push notifications, we additionally store the push-subscription endpoint provided by your browser and the model/topic IDs you subscribed to. You can unsubscribe at any time from the browser's site settings.
2. Cookies and local storage
We use essential cookies and local storage only โ no advertising, retargeting, or cross-site tracking cookies. The full breakdown lives in our Cookies Policy.
3. Analytics
We run analytics in two clearly separated tiers with different privacy postures:
3.1 Anonymous traffic measurement (always on). We use Ahrefs Web Analytics, a cookieless, no-PII traffic counter that aggregates page views, referring sources, and approximate country geography. It does not set cookies, does not write to local storage, does not track individual users, and does not enable cross-site tracking. Because it processes no personal data, it loads on every visit without the consent banner โ under GDPR / ePrivacy guidance, purely cookieless analytics are treated as a low-risk legitimate-interest activity. See Ahrefs' published privacy commitments for technical details.
3.2 Product analytics (opt-in only). On your first visit, after the age-gate, we display a consent banner asking whether you allow us to load product analytics. The banner offers two equally weighted choices: Accept or Decline. We only load these analytics tags if you explicitly accept.
If you accept: we load two product-analytics tools: Mixpanel and Google Analytics 4. Both help us understand which categories, providers, and outbound clicks are useful. Mixpanel events are sent exclusively to its EU-region ingestion endpoint (api-eu.mixpanel.com), so analytics traffic is processed inside the European Union. Mixpanel writes a $device_id and a small event queue to your browser's local storage (entries prefixed with mp_) and associates each event with the same anonymous visitor UUID we already issue server-side. Google Analytics 4 sets first-party cookies _ga and _ga_<measurement_id> (used to distinguish unique browsers and aggregate sessions).
What is recorded when you accept: page views, navigation events, outbound clicks to Providers, age-gate confirmation, basic device context (browser, OS, screen size, referring URL), and IP-derived approximate geolocation (city/region) used for traffic-pattern analysis. With your consent we additionally enable Mixpanel's autocapture (automatic recording of clicks on links and buttons, form submissions, and scroll depth) and session replay (anonymised DOM snapshots together with mouse-movement, scroll, and click activity, used solely to debug user-experience issues). All <input>, <select>, <textarea> and [contenteditable] values are masked by Mixpanel before transmission, so anything you type โ including names, emails, search queries and passwords โ never leaves your browser as part of the replay. We do not record real names, emails, payment details, or anything that could identify you off-site.
If you decline: neither the Mixpanel SDK nor the Google Analytics loader (gtag.js) is ever loaded. No analytics network requests are made, no mp_* or _ga* entries are written, no autocapture or session replay is collected, and we don't profile your visit beyond what's strictly required to render the page.
You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing the analytics_consent cookie in your browser, which resets your choice and re-shows the banner on the next page load. Concrete steps for managing cookies are in our Cookies Policy.
We never sell or share analytics data. Both Mixpanel and Google Analytics are contracted data processors โ see Mixpanel's Data Processing Addendum and Google's Ads Data Processing Terms for the legal mechanics. Google Analytics 4 anonymises IP addresses by design (no last-octet IP storage); Mixpanel stores only the IP-derived city/region/timezone, not the IP itself.
4. What we do not collect
We do not collect: real names, email addresses (unless you contact us voluntarily), phone numbers, payment details, biometric data, precise geolocation, or any data that could identify you off-site. We never sell or rent any data.
5. Third-party links and outbound traffic
When you click an outbound link to a cam platform you leave Similar Cams. The destination platform operates its own privacy policy, cookies, and tracking โ we are not responsible for their data practices. We strongly recommend reading the privacy policy of any cam platform before signing up. Some outbound links carry an affiliate tracking parameter; see our Affiliate Disclosure for details.
6. Your rights under the GDPR (EU and UK)
If you are an EU or UK resident you have the following rights regarding any data we hold about you:
- Right of access โ request a copy of the data tied to your visitor session.
- Right to rectification โ request correction of inaccurate data.
- Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten") โ request deletion of your visitor session and any push subscriptions.
- Right to restrict processing.
- Right to data portability.
- Right to object to processing.
- Right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
Because we collect minimal data and do not link it to identity, requests are typically resolved within 30 days. To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected] from a device with the active session you'd like us to act on, or include enough context for us to locate the session.
7. Your rights under the CCPA (California)
If you are a California resident you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete personal information, to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell any data), and to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.
8. Children's privacy
Similar Cams is intended for adults aged 18 or older (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher). We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has interacted with our service, contact [email protected] and we will investigate and delete relevant data immediately.
9. Data security
We protect data with TLS encryption for all connections, HTTP security headers (X-Content-Type-Options, Referrer-Policy, Strict-Transport-Security), and minimal-collection-by-design. No system is 100% secure; please notify us promptly of any suspected security issue.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above will reflect any change. Material changes will be flagged in the site footer for a reasonable period.
